Laryngitis is most commonly a self resolving viral illness which your body will fight in its own time. It usually gets worse over 2-3 days and resolves within a week sometimes taking a bit longer for the voice to become totally normal. Antibiotics dont usually help and might give adverse side effects. Important thing is to drink loads of fluids(small amounts, more frequently) even though the throat might hurt to maintain hydration to prevent tiredness. Over the counter painkillers like paractemol and ibuprofen can help with pain. Resting the voice (not singing or shouting) might help to shorten symptoms There is no evidence that use of vitamins, aspirin gargles or sprays help in any way. The bottom line is - time is the healer!

What your Mother suffer of? Laryngitis... For the past 2 years I suffer from laryngitis, I couldn't speak, I try everything without results. Then , alone, I discover that my problems were not from laryngitis but from my Sinus that literally leak 24/24 and 7/7 and block my voice box, I treated my Sinus with a spray that my doctor prescribed and I am CURE... Maybe your Mother should look for something that cause her problems.. Good luck !

There is no "cure" for laryngitis. It just kinda takes care of itself after a couple of days. Try not to use your vocal cords at all during the next couple of days, even to whisper. Also, drink warm liquids--that can sooth them but all in all there is no cure.

Plus vitamins are always a great option, even if you're not sick. However, if you do feel under the weather then take vitamin C drops.
