Democracy is not dead, but the reason we have the government we do is because of the people and the system.

People do not want to get involved anymore in the politics of our government, they discourage people who are interested in running for office against it, and they don't want to think of ways of changing the status quo. Trust me, its in our hands to change this. It still is.

As for the system, the media reports comment on political bickering, this is the best way to get media exposure so in turn requires politicians to take on some us vs them attitudes. I feel that what is actually needed in Government right now is the returned of give and take. When one side has power it just takes, it never reaches an agreement with both sides.

LBJ would have never gotten the 1964 voting rights act through if it hadnt been for concessions and give and take. The person who railed against the bill the most, the Senate Leader at that time, was the last person to give a speech for it before it got voted in.
America is built on compromise, and the reason our government is in the messed up place it is, is because its forgotten that.

The people need to push the system back to that point. ALL SIDES need to compromise.

Because we don't have a democracy...we have a democractically elected representitive republic form of government. In the 1600s, a prirate ship was a democracy...one man one vote.

Which democracy? Which country are you referring to? The U.S.A is a Republic, not a democracy. It has a constitution, rules of law, and freedoms guaranteed under that constiution. A democracy essentially mob rule.
