So i am 15 years old.And my periods have been really close together lately, My mother has noticed this and has told me have to see a doctor. What will the doctor do/say? my friend thinks he will just put me on the pill. Is this the most likely thing to happen? Will he have to do anything,..... Weird. Like look at me.. thereee?

I know it's really embarassing to have a doctor examine your reproductive area, but it is the absolutely only way the doctor can figure out what might be going on with you. The doctor will be very gentle and will talk to you the whole way through, letting you know what he/she is going to do and how they are going to touch you. If you have questions during the exam, feel free to ask anything that may come to your mind. The doctor might put you on a hormone therapy for a few months to see if that straightens out your imbalance. They may or may not be birth control pills, it depends on what your need is. This would be a great time to talk to the doctor about birth control though, and may be something you want to get on now even if you are not sexually active, but may become so in the next year or two. The "pill" does help even your periods, you are a teenager, your hormones are going all over the place, it's not unusual to have this problem. Good luck, everything will be fine and you will have successfully passed your first pelvic exam. Just think, there will be many more to come! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, there is the possibility that the doctor could put you on the pill. But not necessarily. And you can always refuse to do that. You could ask for a female doctor. You wouldn't necessarily have to be looked at...there, but no guarantees what your doctor will do. Just make sure your mom is with you. Secondly, it isn't uncommon for your periods to get closer together, and then also get farther apart. As long as you are not having any pain, most likely it is okay just a change in your body's hormones.

Yes your doctor will give you a 28 day pill cycle. The pills will be birth control pills.. Like ortho tri cyclin or lo estrin. These pills are not only for prevention of pregnancy but also to control your menstrual cycles(period). So don't worry he will just give you 28 pill box which you will take once a day for 28 days..

Yes, your doctor will have to look "there", but a nurse will be there with you. Also, your doctor will do whatever is best to fix your problem.
