Seriously, all I hear is the war is about oil, tell me why do you keep singing that song? Prove it! I mean really show me clear cut evidence that this war is about oil. I would also like to know if we attack another middle eastern country with oil in the future will you say the same thing?

Ok my little libys dont get all crazy on me now. By the way to those who use the "protect the fields" theory, that is how Iraqs economy thrives, we are protecting the people of Iraq so why wouldnt we protect their source of income? By the way nice clear cut evidence. You dems and your conspiracy theories, you really crack me up. =)

You are definitely ahead of most when you realize there's more than what the "dumbed down" version of those who say it's all about oil!

Iraq, along with many other Arabic/Muslim nations, have fought amongst themselves for over 7 thousand years. You have a divided culture with different factions demanding control over the others who obviously disagree with another controlling them!

Democracy! The freedom to make choice. We enjoy it in the free societies of this planet! But, when the United States...the STRONGEST military force...is called upon by the United Nations or individual nations to help them out of the conditions of slavery, abuse, torture, racism, dictatorships, murder, rape, and a miriad of other travesties...we get those "dumbed down" individuals screaming about how the fight for democracy is wrong!

These thugs fighting our soldiers would kill their own children to kill one of us! Say it ain't so?! It's a fact!

Additionally, many tend to forget the events of 9/11 where in less than one hour over 3,000 US and visiting international victims in New York City were killed by terrorists!

This is over fuel??? I don't think so!!

Best wishes!

Some of you better learn who are behind the PNAC and what their objective is for the United States in the 21st century. Some of you should get off your butts and start learning about what is happening to the United States and how your freedoms are being eroded.

Take some involvement in your country and quit thinking about your own little worlds as an outsider I know more of what is happening in the United States then most of you. Here I will even give you the Source for the PNAC:http://www.newamericancentury.org/

As well here is something else some of you should readand that is the farewell speech of President Dwight D Eisenhower on January 17, 1961 and warning about letting the American Military Machine getting out of control:

http://www.eisenhower.archives.gov/farewell.htm

*Shut Up Hippie you definitely don't understand what is happening in your own country and I believe you have tunnel vision as many others do in the United States who don't have a foggy idea what is happening in their country. I guess when you leave your kids a National Debt of $28,000 per person that they will just love you for how smart you were in believing the garbage of the Bush Administration.

Oil was very low on the list for Bush. It was a crusade, an attempt to bring down a dictator and establish a true democracy in the Middle East besides Israel.

It's too bad the Bush team had no idea what it was doing and the reality of the situation they were so glibbly touting. It is a wonder there was no listening to any dissenting opinion (and that crap is still going on) and no real understanding of what the threat really is.

So oil, a small bit of the equation but "nation building" the main part.

Ask yourself this. What other reason was there for invading? No WMDs, plenty of other corrupt administrations with popuations who need saving. I mean, none of the official explanaitons make sense do they? They are all BS. If you want proof, what about the oil companies record profits? What about the amazingly low cost of oil in the US? What about Iraq's huge reserves of oil? What about the fact that Bush is defying all opposition and sending more troops and looking like he wants to stay there forever? Do you really believe there will be a huge threat from terrorism if you leave Iraq? Do you honestly believe that the people running your country and the rest of the World are so stupid that they don't know what they are doing?

A simple procession of events:
1. The U.S requires oil to feed many industries; providing our internal and external economies.
2. Large reserves of oil are found in areas of the Middle East.
3. To get the oil we must enter into agreements with certain countries in the Middle East.
4. Our purchases fund the governments of those countries and their military. We invest ourselves in them.
5. Neighboring countries who are already at war with the ones we have partnered with ( for ideological/ religious reasons) view the U.S. as supporting only our partnered countries.
6. We are viewed as a united enemy and are attacked as such.

A thought: If, in some Quasi-universe the solar engine created the same power/size ratio as the internal combustion engine, What would we be importing from this region at these amounts?
Next to nothing grows in the desert; certainly nothing as lucrative as oil. We simply would have no interest. No investments. No partners. No enemies of those partners.

Oil may not be the reason for the present "battle" but it is the genesis of all of our involvement/conflict in the area.

Should George W Bush be tried for war crimes as perpetrator of the 2003 Iraq invasion? Of course. Should Tony Blair be tried for war crimes as an accomplice? Of course. Should other NATO countries leaders who sent thier troops to join the US soldiers in Iraq also be tried for war crimes as accomplices? Not sure on this one, I think it would have to be a case by case basis, more likely they should just be removed from power by the system. 4th question, follow-up: "Will any of these trials ever happen" No.

You won't find anything except possibly links to conspiracy theory websites. There is no proof of this. I as a conservative who supports our President will say that you can't go to war in Iraq without oil being on your mind. Iraq is essential a nation created to control oil resources and keep them out of the hands of other countries. That is why the British created Iraq.

Oil is certainly not the only reason but it is one. And I don't care.

I don't think the war is just about oil. That's about as accurate as the claim that the war is just about freeing an oppressed people. What makes people think it's all about oil is because there are many countries in the world right now that have maniacal, oppressive dictators and yet we haven't invaded them. We haven't invaded them because they don't have oil. So it's not evidence in favor of oil being the motivating factor in the invasion, it's the fact that there are many countries out there that fit our bill for invasion but lack one thing that Iraq has--oil.

You're kidding right? Come on where have you been for the last 6 years? Iraq has the 2nd largest oil reserves on the planet. The entire Bush family and the administration is made up of oil men. And, They've had this war planned since before 9/11 happened. Saddam was about to abandon U.S petro dollars in favor of Euro petro dollars which would have sunk the dollar to even lower than it is today on the world market. This is about U.S control over the mid-east oil in favor of a PNAC policy of A New American century of Empire. I'll give you lots of credible sites to read. But will you actually read them? The only people who don't believe this are the people who don't read and only get their information from t.v.

You say we are protecting the Iraqis??? What sources are you siting here? Or is it merely projection on your part and you're parroting the Bush administration. Please do some research before you post. Treat it like a research project to learn something. Because over 70% of the Iraqi people have fled Iraq because of all the violence.

Do you even listen to Bush's speeches. He said we have to protect the oil fields in iraq. He said it in his first speech prior to invasion in 2003. And, he said it in this last state of the union speech. Rumsfled came out on national and world television 2 days before the invasion and told Iraqis to leave the oil wells alone and begged them not to blow them up. Come on, this is all they have been worried about since Gulf war 1.

Very interesting thing I learned yesterday - Halliburton got a contract to put out the oil well fires when we invaded Iraq. The govt signed this contract in fall 02. So strange, as we didn't go to war until march 03.

Look at a map. See where Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran line up and I think you might be blown away. The geopolitics leap off the map at you - and it's gas, too, not just oil.

Remember Cheney's secret energy meeting, that he has fought for 5 years to keep secret from us? We know that at this meeting, the oil company execs pored over a map dividing up Iraq's oil fields.

We also know this - before Bush invaded no American companies had contracts for producing and selling Iraqi oil. Today, many do.

We also know that none of the reasons Bush gave for going in were true. Remember that.

Check out this article. Google facts from it and I believe you will find, as I have today, that they check out.

The secret energy meeting happened before we attacked iraq and judicial watch brought us a nice map of iraq and it's oil fields.
