Kia has somewhat of a bad rep partly because their small economy cars sell at such a low price. In fact for a long time the cheapest new car available in the US market was a Kia before Chevy came out with the Aveo. Although the 'cheap' image of the brand has been hard to shake, Kia has been steadily climbing up the charts in SAFETY and RELIABILITY.

For example, their minivan the Sedona has received the ranking as the safest minivan that was EVER TESTED since they started doing crash tests. The car that you're interested in, the Sorento, has received a 5-star crash test rating in all catagories by the NHTSA. In fact, with all of the safety features it boasts such as five airbags, Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control System, the Sorento is one of the safest vehicles out there.

For reliability, look at the latest results from this massive study they did on cars up to 8 years old in the UK and US:

Not bad don't you think?

Kia's motto is 'the power to surprise'. Owners are pleasantly surprised at just how much car they actually get for the money that they spend. Personally I really like the Sorento, if I ever get an SUV in the near future I would get it. If you live where it snows, the 4 wheel drive version is recommended.

I was once a single mother of two and strived on a vehicle that was dependable and safe. After checking reviews and asking questions, the KIA was not it. Although they claim to have a good warranty, it's because they have to. You need to stick with something such as a Honda, Toyota or Nissan for dependability. After I did all the "checking" the company I work for bought 5 new Kia's for the guards to patrol the sites in. Within 6 months every single one had broken down with major issues... please do your research, wish you all the safety in the world!

i acutally just read an article about the new kia rondo (i think that's what it's called) it is a car but is taller like and suv and has the option to seat seven people. sounds pretty neat and i believe it gets better gas mileage than an suv. you should check it out!

Kias got the lowest safety rating out there. I'd suggest looking around a little more. Hyundais got a crappy safety rating too. How 'bout Chevy, Trailblazer?

Nice SUV, but where is is made? USA or Korea? Buy American. Some KIA'S are made in Korea, that's why there prices are so good.

i actually hate whilst people ask in the event that they have been given a stable deal whilst they purchase a automobile! WTF is the version?? Too previous due now. in case you paid $a hundred,000.00 for it, it relatively is beside the point. Why lose any sleep over it?? Jesus. Is it a stable automobile?? No, under no circumstances. you may desire to no longer have picked a worse automobile. that's what could placed a "pit on your abdomen". slightly examine on reliability and re-sale cost in the previous you purchased it would have advised you to keep away from a Kia like it relatively is the HIV virus. yet, it relatively is too previous due now, so flow on alongside with your life.

Bad--very bad network of dealers. They use old technology, they're overweight and the mileage stated on the window sticker is no where near what you'll get in daily driving.
Stay away from this vehicle.

Go with a highlander if you want an SUV. Very reliable, and very good on gas.
