A degree is usually only a way of getting yourself the interview. To make good money you generally just have to be good at what you do, although I would not be surprised if people with B.S. degrees made more in the long run. As far as I know, The UoP is a reputable school. If you're in IT, might want to get your A+ and MCSE as well as some UNIX experience.

Find a community college in your area. Community colleges offer the best value for your educational dollar. Most are also moving into the realm of online classes and most understand that many of their students have lives that must continue while they are in school. Make an appointment with a counselor, sit down and discuss your options. I would think twice about spending $20,000 to $40,000 on a two-year degree to get a $5000 bump in salary, if that is the ultimate goal. School is always worthwhile. Always. Your employer's tuition re-imbursement plan stinks, by the way. It's good that they offer something, but that's pretty paltry. Your GED, cosmetology school, etc. -- none of that was a big waste of money. It's experience, it's knowledge, and it's worthwhile. Definitely go back to school. It will be difficult with your job and family, but you sound like you can do just about anything and that you don't pay any attention to obstacles! Good luck to you.

A higher degree is always beneficial in the job market, but isn't always required..it often times depends on the company, location, the market, etc. Whatever the case may be, there are jobs out there for those who have only recieved an Associates Degree in your field. Ever heard the term "it takes money to make money?" that is almost always true! If you would prefer to have a job now, being your own boss, setting your own hours, making your own goals, etc..then why not start an at home business using your computer? I recently enrolled with a company that is offering two at home positions, if you are interested in more details, simply click my avatar image which will take you to my YA profile. You should see a link that I have provided for the YA community, click this link, it will take you to the company's website. Once you reach the website, review as much or as little information as you want and request an interview..the interview can be done via the phone or internet. Best of luck to you friend!

The key thing in IT is experience and certifications. A 2 year degree won't help much. Many are looking for 4 yr or combo of degree and experience.
If you had no degree but were Cisco, Microsoft, Java, CISSP certified, you could make good money.
UofP should be ok.
It will also depend on what IT work you're planning to do.

Depends who you work for. You'll have to pay your dues like everyone else.
