Well, I don't listen to a lot of modern rock, but I LOVE Chevelle.... but it really depends on what you want. Do you like SOAD's spastic, unpredictable stuff, or would you rather have Chevelle's melodic sensibilities. I would recommend checking out this old band called King's X. Look into their albums "Tape Head" and "Please Come Home... Mr. Bulbous." Those are overlooked modern rock masterpieces, but they don't have much in common with SOAD.
