I am sorry, but I gave it up when I was pregnant and you can too. Think of it like this I want a healthy baby and he/she is more important than my addiction. I do not need them because I love my baby more than my cigarettes. I have quit many times but every time I found out I was pregnant I didn't smoke another, no excuses just quit

People who don't smoke, don't understand how hard it is. It's one thing to choose to quit because you WANT to, and as much as people think it would be easier to choose not to smoke for your unborn child...sometimes that's not the case because the choice wasn't something you had time to mull over first. It was sort of thrust on you when you found out you were pregnant. Once you are a smoker, it's NOT a choice you make. Bottom line, it's an addiction...period. Seriously...you HAVE tried. Laying a guilt trip on you doesn't help. What you need is advice on how to do something you're already TRYING to do.
Here's how I quit. I limited myself to 5 smokes per day. I smoked one in the morning, one on each break at work, one at lunch and one before bed. I did this for 3 days.
Then, I cut one smoke from the day...and smoked 4 for 3 days.
Then 3 for 3 days...then 2...1...0.
They SAY you can't be successful by cutting back slowly but that really is the only thing that worked for me. Good luck and don't give up!

i smoked for 5 years (and on and off before that) to give up i just stopped! just like that, whenever i felt the need for a cigarette i destracted myself and did something else!when i got pregnant i craved cigarettes terribly! but though of what it would do to my baby, that was enough to stop me.i have never gone back to them either.
try looking up on the internet and read up exactly what the affects of smoking when pregnant (assuming you are as you have posted this question in pregnancy section)
throw every single lighter and box of cigarettes away and and tell yourself NO! you CAN stop but you need very strong will power! if you want to quit bad enough you will do it.it takes a while,as i still crave now 3 years on but you just have to tell yourself no!
so whenever u feel the need to smoke,do some house work or do some exercise.or perhaps you could try cutting them down, setting a target to smoke at least 1 or 2 less cigarettes a week until you have stopped altogether,or even using a pen or rolled up paper to pretend to smoke??
also while trying to quit avoid going to club and pubs where smoking allowed, and ask friends or relatives to respect what your doing and not to smoke in front of you,or try to tempt you with cigarettes.
if this doesnt work then you will never stop, bec at the end of the day only YOU can stop smoking!its YOU that puts that cigarette in your mouth every day,no-one else does it for you.
the choice is yours!

i stopped smoking last year when i became pregnant.like you i had tried hypnosis and patches without success. i finally stopped by reading Alan Carr's book 'the easy way to stop smoking' (although i read it several times)my husband also stopped using this book. it changes the way you think about smoking. it was definitely worth stopping when my first daughter was born i was still a smoker and she needed oxygen for several minutes after she was born. i got to cuddle my new baby straight away without the guilt. good luck

Take up a hobby like knitting, or drawing.... or something to at least keep your hands busy.... Then if you do get a craving chew a piece of gum and continue with the craft you were working on... After about 10-15 minutes the craving will pass...... That is how I had to do it.. I just had to keep my hands busy... It was more of a habit for me than an addiction.... And once I figured that out, I was good to go... Good Luck!!!! I know how hard it really is!!!!

go get an ultrasound. Thats how my sister quit. She was having a hard time quitting. She would quit for a week then start back up for a few weeks then quit again. I went with her to get an ultrasound (3/d) and she saw the baby moving around and kicking and sucking her thumb and felt totally guilty and quit the same day. She has had her baby and has not started smoking . good luck!!!!

I have giving up smoking the minute I've found out I was pregnant ( I had been smoking for about 10 years) - my motivation is my little baby growing in my tummy and that I don't want to do anything that would hurt him/her

It is difficult but I find that every time I want to have a cig I just think "would I blow smoke into a new born baby's face?" obviously I wouldn't even consider it so I just think to myself that this is the same.
