Beofre you scoff at this, remember that women since the 50's have flooded the workplace. Women can be found in low, medium and high paying jobs. Look around your workplace and chances are the majority of the people you see are women. This one military recruiter said that he was stationed at a naval station that was 80 percent women. Also, it is widely believed that out of all possible recruits, 50 percent are male and 50 percent are female.

I am a female and I was in Desert Storm / Iraqi Freedom. Every duty station there seemed to be about 90% men / 10% women. This held true on my ship also.

If it happens, it would take awhile to reach a 50% / 50% share

The military wants young people, and targets them for recruitment. Older people are not drawn to the military anyway. Who do you expect will pay your pension when you retire? The young people in the workforce at the time, that's who. Women of childbearing age - are now and forever - raising that next generation of taxpayers. Pretty obvious, no?

Ps: "Look around your workplace and chances are the majority of the people you see are women.' I am a firefighter, an engineer, a university professor, a medical doctor, a cop...and as such I must point out that you are quite INCORRECT in your allegation.

It is the first female general in the US Army. Of course she was head of nurses but that only goes with the fact that women rarely, if ever, choose the dirty or dangerous jobs such as garbage worker, sewage worker, infantry, roughneck, etc.

Other female generals, Army Reserve Brigadier General Coral Wong Pietsch with the JAG, Lieutenant-General Claudia Kennedy, who was the army's deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence. More recently, Brigadier General Janis Karpinski is among seven officers being investigated following claims that soldiers under their command mistreated detainees.

No way. I was in the military and I believe it will always be majority men. Certain career fields like hospitality, medical, and intel will have more women, but not overall.

If we could just get our opponents to agree to this. OK, hostile country, we declare war on you, and we need you to represent the same amount of women in your miliary as we do.

the percentage of women in high-paying jobs is miniscule in comparison to men. i don't know what crackpot statistics you are looking at, but the military is VERY male-dominated. and when was the last time you heard of a female general, huh?
