So this is going to sound completely random and I know this game's old but I'm playing the PC version and I just jumped down that well in the Historical Society and I know I'm supposed to break the wall of the well with the pipe but everytime I try to press the action button (the space bar) it just keeps repeating the same crap about how the spot feels different and that he might be able to break it but he never actually swings at the wall so I'm basically stuck. Anyone know how to get through this level?

yeah i got stuck there.... i think you have to use the wooden plank... not the pipe... i almost got thru that level but my computer got a virus and i had to do a restoration... and it disappeared so i started all over...
