a sign in the road says 'Dead Slow' 'Children'. will this damage their confidence ?

Such a sign does not exist in the traffic sign regulations if the council has erected it they have either gone to a lot of trouble to gain special dispensation for the sign or have made a mistake, I assume the area of the school is at least restricted to 30mph drivers should slow down without the need for such signs but for the ignorant few. Parents can do a lot by parking alternate sides of the road in such a maner so as to form their own traffic calming in the form of chicanes.

Speaking as a slow child myself, I can't say my confidence has suffered. (com'mon, even I laughed a little)
Plus, those capable of reading and interpreting the sign's meaning really don't consider themselves "dead slow," and therefore aren't offended.
All that being said, its still a mean and an immoral thing to do.

It's insuling, tell the locla council to get rid of it. But provided the school kids don't see it or don't think about its implications then it wouldn't mattr for the moment.

Are you serious? My son has special needs and I would find this highly insulting. BUT I do know of these signs and that they exist, but heck its in the totally wrong place!! How tactless.
