You need to "crawl" into the skin of one of the charaters. Describe your feelings.
Ex:
Atticus- during the trial
Jem-when you are attacked
Scout-when you meet Boo for the first time

Depends on the class, but you can ask questions about:
* the law - was it a fair trial, would the decision be the same now,
* civil rights - minorities on the jury, where they sit in the courtroom, do we still believe a white girl over a black man
* social norms - Boo and his gifts to the children, how he stays out of the public light
* how different society is from then to now - would you ever let your children walk home at night alone
There are a ton of things you can ask about - ask how the ending of the book made the reader feel, and would they have written it differently?

I think an interesting question would be ...would a poor black man today expect to be treated the way people treated Tom Robinson?
How and why does innocence (Tom) get destroyed by evil (hate, fear and prejudice)?
