What about Syd???!!! How could you leave him out??

1. John we could definitely use today. With modern music being as it is then we need at least something to make thing better. But then we'd also need George Harrison back for a complete Beatles reunion.

2. Bob Marley'd be another great idea. He really combined everything out there and made it sound really good. With his creativeness and musical output capabilities he could really get modern music back in with some fresh inspiration.

3. Jimi I'm not too sure about. We have plenty of guitar players who idolize him already and I'm not so sure about his stage antics either. His music was good, I'll give him that, but I think we're past his era in music.

4. Janis is another not-too-sure choice, I have this weird feeling that she wouldn't be able to make new music that sounded good and that really made us say "Wow, Janis really can make some new music."

5. Elvis is a definite no. The age of him and his followers and also the age of boybands are long gone in America. I'm sure he'd get massive approval from the Baby Boomers of America but then the bubble would pop out from under him.

6. Jim Morrison could definitely produce some great new music but his usefulness is in doubt. And like Jimi his stage antics are also questionable in their good tidings. Maybe if he'd settle down on stage a lot and just stick to making quality music then he could definitely be a possibility for revival.

7. Ray Charles is a definite possibility, but of course he'd only really inspire the disabled, not the common person who didn't have a disability to overcome. He did produce quality music though and he might get a good reception from the younger generation.

8. Freddie Mercury is also a definite possibility. Up until his death he was still making music and doing things until he succumbed to AIDS. But if he was brought back I'm sure he and the rest of the band could make another big hit that'd get attention.

9. Kurt Cobain is a 50-50 in my mind. Plenty of people already idolize him and he doesn't really serve any purpose except to lead the most famous grunge rock band of all time. He was a decent singer and an average guitar player who used drugs and had physchological issues as well. A reunion of Nirvana would rake in millions of dollars for the guys but it's still 50-50.

10. Layne Staley is also a borderline person. He wasn't really great or anything but he did have his good works out there. Another downfall to his reviving would be that a AIC reunion wouldn't bring in that much money.

And lastly another person you forgot is Johnny Ramone. With all of the political stuff going on I'm sure that he (R.I.P.), Dee Dee (ditto), Joey (ditto ditto) and Tommy (the last of the 8 people ever to be in the band to still live) would produce some spectacular works of songwriting.

Out of the 10 you listed I'd say bring back Freddie.

John Lennon followed by Freddy Mercury. Don't know who Layne Staley is but the rest were way to f*#^ed up to waste the effort. Brilliant, but messed up!

Jimi Hendrix out of that list, but you left out George Harrison. George has been severely underrated. As a guitarist, he's ranked #21 by Rolling Stone's top 100 guitarists. As a complete musician, he was the first Beatle to have a successful solo album after their breakup. In fact, his "All Things Must Pass" album is the best selling album of a solo Beatle. Back to Jimi, we need him to ressurect the lost art of the guitar solo. The best guitar performances you'll see today are of artists from the same time period, Clapton for example.

I always wonder what these guys would sound like if they were still living. Would they still be good? I know it's a terrible thing to say, but maybe they already did everything they were meant to do, and if they had survived longer they would still be making music today, only it wouldn't be any good anymore. Who knows. My favorite on that list is probably Jimi Hendrix. If I had to pick someone, it wouldn't be anyone on the list, though. It would be Elliott Smith.

For me anyone who took their own lives is out... Same goes for anyone that was dumb enough not to know when to say when...

John Lennon and Bob Marley share the top spots.... Kurt Cobain ranks pretty high too..
