I have just finished treating my tank for white spot and did a 30% water change last night. This morning one of my fishes who almost died before has got a white speck on the end of his upper fin. Is this white spot? I thought they could not get it twice.

They can get it many times. Just continue to treat the tank until you go a month without seeing any signs of it. What happens is the white spot that you see is the adult form of the parasite - ick. There are still baby parasites floating in the water. You need to treat the tank for a while to insure that all of the ick is killed, hence waiting a month from the last sign of ick. I had a tank with this problem, and I lost some really nice fish because of thinking it was all gone when it was not. We have a really neat fish specialty store here and they helped me out with it. Good Luck!

Your fish can get ich at any time, as often as your tank has the ich parasite. i have found that the best way to kill the ich parasite out rite is to do the full period of treatment even if the fish dont have any more spots. the worst time for ich to re appear is 14 days after the initial infection, 14 days is the gestation period for the parasites. you can also try syphoning the substrate where the parasite hide till a fish comes along. this will cut down the number of parasite in your tank.

Just like you can get a cold over and over again, so too can fish get sick over and over again. Where do those nasty little bugs that get us sick come from? Who knows, but they always sneak up on us somehow. Sure, you fish could get sick from ich again. Ich has a relatively long cycle, and it can only be killed during is reproductive cycle in the gravel after it falls off the fish, but before new ones attach. Which is when we don't see it anyway. The reproductive cycle alone is 3-28 days. The other cycles are about one week each. You have to keep treating for the length of the entire cycling process to be sure to get rid of all of it. Keep at it for a couple of months at least to be sure you've treated the entire cycling process.

This sounds to me like a Nitrate spike in combination with a fungus outbreak. That and your tank is Stuffed. The rule is 1 inch of fish per gallon of aquarium space. You have far exceeded this. You seem to have enough filtration, so I would say the Nitrate Spike is from too many fish and not enough water changes or also from overfeeding. Since you said your water parameters are "Perfect", this cannot be a Nitrate spike. That is unless the test kit you own is expired or you are not testing Nitrates, or you have not tested recently. When posting questions, I really wish people would post the water parameters readings, rather then claiming they are "perfect". Best bet is to head to your LFS and get them to test the water for you. For right now you can increase the heat to 85 Fer (1 degree for 2-3 hours increment). Change the water (~25%). Add some aquarium salt ( teaspoon per 10 gallons), and then add pima/mela fix in combination, or your favorite fungus medication. Continue to medicate with the heat up for about a week, then do a water change (~25%), and throw some carbon in the filter. Leave the Carbon in the filter till the next week water to remove the medication. Good luck

I think your talking about ick and it probley has not been completely treated yet especially if you just did a water change (which would remove some of the treatment). also I believe the temperature of the tank has an effect on how contagious ick is... so you might want to check on that as well.

Yes, its a parasite that attaches itself to the fish mechanically like a leech. You can get leeches as many times as you jump into mucky south american water.
