The name for one. Actually, not all that much difference. They are all politicians & try their best to make it look like they are totally different.
The Republicans supposably are for the rich & the Democrats for the poor/middle class.
In truth, they serve the same masters & it isn't the little guy! Most all of our representitives are wealthy. Perhaps, Nouveau rich, but rich just the same.
If they ever knew how the middle class lives from pay check to pay check, they have forgotten. If they ever had to be on Welfare, they have forgotten.
Our Representitives are people of the world, they are like the Industrial complex, what happens in this country does not really affect them, they get their money just the same.
They like to throw us bits of hope, like the new minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Who do they expect to live on that; still it is better than the old minimum wage of $5 something.
If the Democrats really do something for the people of this country, I will be surprised. National health? What is that going to cost us? Not them, they are covered for life by the best insurance in the country. Are they even talking of stopping the bleeding of jobs from this country? Nope!
So, you see, I don't see all that much difference; except in name.

Democrats are about more involvement from the government in our every day lives while Republicans want less government involvement and more individual rule. Both parties together pretty much even things out. Because too much self rule can be dangerous and so can too much government rule.

Republicans believe in self reliance. Democrats think the government is responsible for everything.

Democrats think people should help each other... Republicans think people should help themselves..

You really think Republicans are about less government involvement while they try to legislate against abortion, stem cells research, same sex marriage, and an insane war based on bad intelligence, and permitting domestic spying (aka the big brother act)???... wow I'm confused.

Republicans stand for less government running our lives. We believe in doing for ourselves. We believe in lower taxes because we know what to do with our money better than the government does.
Democrats believe in more government and higher taxes to pay for it. They want higher taxes because they want to run your life from cradle to grave. They know how to spend you money better than you do.

The most important difference is in their attitude towards civil liberties. Republicans are generally against civil liberties (even if they claim the opposite) and Democrats are in favor of civil liberties. Also, Republicans are against separation of church and state (in other words, they are in favor of creating a theocratic Christian state), whereas Democrats are for separation of church and state.
