Obviously he is not better then Joe Montana, John Elway, Brett Favre, Dan Marino, Tom Brady? but wheres does he rank around the guys like Steve Young, Troy Aikmam, Unitas, Fouts, Starr, Moon? Any of the quarterbacks would have certainly defeated that uninspired Bears team also

Manning could be in the top 20 of all time. I don't think he ranks as high as Steve Young.

Marino and unfortuneately Roethlisberger are both quarterbacks that prove that super bowl rings do not make you a good quarterback.

Otherwise Terry Bradshaw would be number one overall.

I put manning in the top 20, but not the top ten. QBs like Farve, Marino, Bradshaw, Elway, Unitas, Young, Aikman, Starr, Fouts, Starbauch and Montana (not in that order) are all easily better. Brady and Archie Manning are both up there too. Its too hard to tell now; Peyton has too many years left to determine if he gets up there.

But dont forget: Super Bowl titles do not make you a good QB.

Both Roethlisberger and Marino are examples. Roethlisberger had a high scoring defense and great recievers to help him out, but he definitley has room for improvement. Marino, in my opinion, is the best QB of all time, and he has no rings.

Yes, of course. And no it's not obvious those guys are better. It's obviously some NE bias there putting Brady in the top 5. RINGS=INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS PEOPLE!!! And for whoever mentioned it --Please don't put Bradshaw up with these guys. He is very overrated (and "bring back the days of QBs calling their own plays" ----do you not watch Peyton play?"). Peyton will most certainly be the #s king by the end of his career (farther along than Favre and Marino at this point in their careers, and is currently showing the potential for the longevity they had) and he's finally got a ring so people can quit bitching about that.

Peyton Manning would probably be on my Top 3 list of greatest quarterbacks. He's easily put up there with Montana and Marino.
But it depends on what scale you're grading your quarterbacks, and what statistics you're looking at. Dan Marino never won a Super Bowl. He made it to one and lost, and never went back. So in that regard he's better than Marino, but way behind Aikman, Bradshaw, and Montana.
Personality wise, and leadership abilities he's definitely one of, if not the, greatest leaders on and off the field. He knows how to manage a game and is in control of his team.
Honestly you can never really tell how great a player is until after he retires, so the only way to really tell will be after his career is over. But for now, I'd definitely say he's on the right track.

lets see ..... Montana, Elway, Favre, Marino, Tarkenton, Moon (Husky alumni, WOOF!!!!), Fouts (Duck alumni, Ducks suck!!!), Young,Unitas, Kelly, Aikman, Dawson, Blanda, Bradshaw ........ thats 14 id rank ahead of Manning right now, but if he continues what hes doing for the next 5 or so years he would easily move into the top 10 all time

I wouldnt yet, but by the end of his career he will definetly be in the top 10. His numbers are amazing, and even though he has choked so often in the past his recent super bowl win will put those doubters to rest. Even though I cant stand the colts you gotta admit that Peyton is a great talent.

Maybe with his stats, I would put him close to Brett Favre, who also has a Super Bowl...But no way is he as good as

1. Joe Montana
2. Terry Bradshaw
3. Tom Brady
4. Roger Staubach
5. Brett Favre
6. Troy Aikman

I could see him maybe 7 or 8 all time...no higher...

I definitely think he is in the top 10 for all time quarterbacks. He's a young guy who still has years to come and records to break. His career is nowhere from over,(knock on wood) and I even think he's as good as Brady and Brett.

Manning could be the greatest of all time. He is only 30 years young and has about 8 more years left to play. He is easily a top ten QB. I would put him in the top 5 right now.
