The world will most likely last for a few more billion years--until the sun expands into a Red Giant and consumes it.
The real question is how long will humanity last. I say quite confidently that we will be long gone by the time the sun expands. Dinosaurs ruled the earth for about 260 Million years and we have been around for about 150-50,000 years. And judging by the rate we are going I can't see any possible way that we will ever even hope to last as long the Dinosaurs.
An interesting fact is that in 2003 NASA sent a satellite with a camera into space that should return back in 50,000 years. Which makes you wonder if NASA, America or humans will even be here to see it. To put it in perspective it would be like a cave man drawing of space landed back to earth today.

It depends what exactly you mean. An accident can happen at any time. However, the sun has a life and so does the earth. Scientists figure that if all goes well, the sun will explode in about 100 billion years (give or take a couple of billion years). The earth could fall apart before that, because it is slowing down, each year and once the speed falls below a certain point the centrifugal force that is holding the earth together won't be strong enough and the planet will turn into little dust particles and float away.

Personally, I think the World will last forever.... But the human race will come to an end because of the technolgy we have. My grandpa's generation left my generation a mess.... My generation is teens. The generation that ruined us is because they wasted fuel, the desicions that were made politically were wrong. They caused war, polution, extinction of some animals. And maybe even global warming.
That generation left the next generation to clean up. It's just not right how stupid can be... And not care.
I got this information from my awsome substitute teacher for social studies, Mr. Sebastion...
He's always... Well, his opinions I agree with.

I really don't believe it will end. Maybe I can believe in this question: how long will the mankind last?I believe we wont last long enough to witness the total destruction of the world. Revelation Chapters 6, 9, and 16 record number of severe judgements like that of the 10 plagues of Egypt. trying to save ourselves even for one moment will be futile as we will be all swept before the world will be swept away to total destruction. It seems like a happy ending after all Rev. 22:1 . The world will be restored to it's original condition of pure good and purity. Whatever the final battle will look like God is in control of history. Mapping out the chart for the earth's life span is also in the accordance of His will.

The world will last for another five billion years, at which point the sun will balloon up to being a red giant and either engulf the Earth in flames or heat it up enough that the oceans boil away and the atmosphere escapes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun#Life_cycle
The human species will probably last a good, long time. I'm not sure how long, but I sort of doubt it'll survive long enough that we'll have to worry about the sun using up its hydrogen.

Unless we get hit by a monster asteroid big enough to crack the world open, I'd say 3 to 4 billion years. That doesn't mean our civilization will last that long, just the world.
The world, unless it's physically destroyed, will recover from any abuse we give it. We won't.

Well someone in this room has to have the answer.
Of course they have to know the future too. Seriously according to science the world's been around for over millions of years, so I don't see it ending any time soon.

We have about 250,000 more years before the sun turns into a red giant and cooks the Earth. Humans will probably die out before then.

There is no way to know for sure so don't worry about it. It is unlikely to end in your lifetime and, even if it does, you won't be around any more to care about it.
