I heard a lot of people putting them together in ways that they were the best in what they did, BUT, I feel that is not true. I think John Lennon and Bob Marley are both great and equally good in life. Am I wrong?

That's like comparing puppies and cheese. Yes, I like puppies and cheese both very much, but they are not really something you can compare, as they are so different.

Well, what're we talking about when we say "best"?
For rap, maybe Tupac *was* best. Who knows?
For rock songwriting- I'd put Lennon WAY up there alright.
For reggae & overall following? It's Marley for most.

they were both very admired by certain cultural groups, but they are very different character and had different messages. I wouldn't say they are analogous to each other.

tupac is good. lenon is okay. marley is terrible. none can be compared.
