I can stand hunger pains for hours but when I am thirsty I get so stressed and agitated. Am I nuts or does anyone else get this?

It doesnt happen every day or anything but when it does I can't rest until I quench the thirst.

No, it is normal. You can last much longer without food than drink. It is a survival mechanism.

I'm up around twice a night for water..... not a lot, just a few sips. I have bottled water with me during the day. I've been tested for diabetes.... but that wasn't the cause. I think we all have different agendas when it comes to water intake. Most diets even recommend 6-8 glasses a day. So, try not to be too concerned about it. It's just important that you stay fully hydrated each day. Make certain that you have easy access to water at all times. Many bottled waters are now fortified with minerals and vitamins, so you might want to give those a glance.

Have you tried having your thyroid checked? Excessive and frustrating thirst can be vitamin defficiency and or thyroid...the gland that controls your hormone balances in men and women...it's a simple blood test at your GP's surgery and will show levels of thyroxin in the blood. Other symptoms of over active thyroid are large appetite without much weight gain, unsteady hands and shakes for no apparent reason, prominent eyes and hyper activity or lots of energy. You may not display all or any of the symptoms.

Yes!
This morning, my throat was so dry and scratchy, I didn't know what to do!!
I usually brush my teeth first thing, but today I had to go downstairs and swallow half a bottle of water. Then I went upstairs and slipped into unconsciousness. My poor family thinks I'm insane.

I think that happens to everyone. When you get dehydrated your body is running out of "coolant" so you start getting warmer which in turn makes you agitated.
