The whole movie is about plants sending toxins to humans and making them kill themselves that is the plants defense. Plants are constantly changing themselves for their own protection when bees start dissapearing. The point M night Shamlan is making is that the reason why this shananigans is happening is becuase all mankind lacks respect to one another and the planet. Therefore a person must get along with one another in order to "calm" this poison from bieng released or there are consequences otherwise. My answer could possible be no more confusing than the movie itself lol but its the true meaning of the movie.

Hey hammettgodess, you are wrong. They don't get back together. First, the mom realizes that Mrs. Doubtfire is the dad, because his face falls off. The kids see the dad in a TV show as Mrs. Doubtfire, and the mother goes to where he was acting to talk to him. Finally, she lets him be the babysitter for the kids after school.

Seems that there are several different opinions here whether they get together again or not?
I don't think they do? It's been a while since I've seen it....but he gets his children's show and everyone is smiling at the end!

Sally Field had burned the custody papers and Robin Williams saw the kids right after school and/or after his new job on The Mrs. Doubtfire Show.

People that are saying this is about how global warming will be the end of us all, or that it was only about plants releasing neuro toxins to kill us simply did not understand the message of the movie. The movie, truly, is about how people are always scared of the current world boogie man, weather that be communism from before, or terrorism and global warming of now. I know most people are going, "what?", but think about the movie from the beginning and it becomes obvious why shymalan showed certain scenes the way they were, and even why some actors appeared to be doing a bad acting job. First, we see people kill themselves. They do this because people 'kill themselves' over all of the fears we are told to be scared of. The exodus of New York takes place next. However, theres no rioting like you would expect. Why? Because nobody knows what they are actually running from, just like in real life as people run from terrorism or global warming. Later on, they all enter a fake house. This is a metaphor for how the current fear (terorrism or global warming) is simply fake, and the plastic tree Wahlberg is scared of just shows the paranoia that is so easily felt by people. Later, we see a sign that says "You deserve this!", which doesnt show that people deserve to die for ignoring the environment, but rather deserve to kill themselves because they are so ignorant of the fact that we are always scared of some boogie man. Next, you see a hypothesis formed that being in large groups starts the killings, but in fact this shows that real life hysteria starts in large groups and then trickles down to individuals such as Mrs Jones. Mrs Jones doesnt care about the world and it doesnt care about her, but still her paranoia (shes scared Wahlberg will steal from her) that she kills herself over that. I think the baby being born is hope for some people, and the events in paris just reinforce that people will always be scared of some boogie man. With that insight, it becomes even more awesome of a movie because everyone thats shooting it down for being about global warming is only proving Shymalans point that people generally hop on the bang wagon and run away from whatever the current boogie man is. Its simply brilliant how Shymalan proves his point by having very few people actually understand the true theme of the movie.

OMG, that's my favorite movie. Well........ the mom, Sally Field, finds out that the dad, Robin Williams, is really Mrs.Dounbtfire so she gets all mad......then, she forgives him (still broken up) and he gets a job doing his own show, "Mrs.Dounbtfire". I love that movie, i think you should really finish the movie instead of finding out what happened online.
