you shouldn't worry too much. some babies are more energetic than others in the belly. I know this sounds funny, but try poking him and seeing if he reacts to that stimulation. That is what the doctor advised my cousin when she voiced concerns about her baby not moving much. On the other hand my baby kicked me in places i didnt think she would be able to reach. So you might be lucky. Nonetheless, monitor his movement, try stimulating him to move and next time you go to the doctor let him know your concerns. I'm sure he/she will relax you.

First time moms will usually feel their baby's movements between 18-24 weeks. There are many things that will affect how soon you feel the baby move, including:

Your Weight
Location of your placenta (Anterior Placentas sometimes prevent moms from feeling baby until s/he is very big.)
How many babies you've had before (Once you've felt it you are more likely to remember and recognize the feeling.)
Well, it seems that everyone describes it differently. Some moms describe it as feelign queasy, while others say bubbles or butterflies. You will probably feel the baby and question yourself about what you've felt. Don't despair, your little one will soon make his or her prescence very known. If you are really concerned talk to your practitioner.

How to count the fetal movements:
The first thing you want to do is pick your babies most active time of the day to begin.
Do not set yourself for panic by waiting until the quiet times. Take a piece of paper and write down the time you start paying attention, put a check mark on the paper every time you feel movement (kick, twist, punch, turn). Do not count hiccups. When you have felt ten movements, write that time down as well.
Doing this at the same time every day will help with the accuracy of the test. If your baby is having a slow day, try walking for five minutes, eating, or drinking juice and then go lie down on your left side to see if that will perk your sleepy little one up. Keep in mind that we do not feel all the movements of the baby. We actually probably are too busy moving ourselves to notice the majority of movements. Also, a placenta that is anterior or a mother with some extra weight may provide yet another barrier to feeling all the movements.

Your baby should move ten times in four hours. If this does not happen call your practitioner for advice on what to do next.

Remember, there are different methods of kick counting. Ask your practitioner which they prefer, or use the one provided here.

Hope this helps

I am also 28 weeks along. I feel my baby move only about 3-4 times a day. Just flutters during the day, but at night I get the big kicks. Don't worry yourself, I am sure everything is fine. All babies are different. With my daughter I had to get monitored twice because she wasn't moving. Turned out she was just a lazy little thing! Not anymore!! Congrats and Good Luck.

You should feel them throughout the day, remember most the time your moving around and so is baby. They're awake they just may not be kicking around as if your laying down and feel the jabs. They like the movements you make and ride the waves that are created by them most the time. Plus they sleep and have patterns of it too.
Bring it up with your doctor the next time you go, they'll give you an idea of what baby is up too and ease your worry.
Good Luck!
Also the further along you go, the less room baby has to move, so later down the line you will feel less, that's only because they've outgrown their little home.

I am also 28 weeks pregnant. My baby won't stop moving. This is my fourth pregnancy. If and when you get a little worried drink a big glass of orange juice, lay on your side and you will be sure to get lots of kicks. Ask your doctor, but I believe you should feel 10 kicks within an hour after drinking the o.j. Congrats on your spring baby!

I was told i should feel baby move 10 times in a 12hr period.

If ever worried about lack of movement (although my baby is hyper so i don't get that alot) drink something cold and lie on your left side - this should cause baby to move.

Personally for me all i need to do is sit in a chair and lean forward a bit - my baby hates me in that position - guaranteed my baby will move..but thats me personally .

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about but a tip from my Ob - if i ever think baby hasn't moved enough go to the maternity ward of the hospital i've booked in for and tell them. They will check everything out - she said even if i have to do it a hundred times its better to be safe than sorry and thats what they are there for so never feel like i'm "putting anyone out".

Good luck.

Are you very active during the day? Babies tend to sleep during the day time when we are most active and wake up at night when we are lying still.

I wouldnt worry too much. You can do the fetal kick counts.
Sit down on the couch completely relaxed. Have a can of Coke, and count after that Coke kicks in, start counting kicks for two minute intervals.
that baby will be up and moving in no time!

After 21 weeks I was able to feel my baby kick a lot, but only certain periods of the day. It's different for everyone. But if you usually feel her move a lot and haven't latley, you should see your doctor and make sure everything is OK! Good luck!!! :]
