You possibly find a horse that you can lease. This will allow you to have a nicely trained horse that all you will have to pay for is upkeep. My daughter leased out her show horse when she went to college to make sure it was ridden and stayed in the show ring in front of prospective buyers. The only downfall is you are putting money and time into another person's horse, and it can be sold out from under you. If you have five right now, are you sure that there is not one there that would work for you, or have you got "new horse fever" and just want something different? You may have a true gem in the bunch you already own, just not seeing it.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but I don't think you're going to find a free, well trained horse anywhere that doesn't have some sort of physical problem. I was lucky and got my 3 yr old green-broke gelding for free but that's only because he has a "parrot mouth". He's an excellent riding horse, but I really lucked out. If anything, you can find a cheap, but un-broke horse to train yourself. That's the best way to go if your short on cash.

There is no such thing as a free horse, especially not a trained one!

There are vet, farrier, feed, supplies etc. that need to be bought for a horse. They are a huge responsibility and if you cannot afford the purchase price (the cheapest part--especially considering emergency vet bill costs) then you should wait until you are more financially secure before buying one.

Try Equine.com under the horses tab there is a listing of free horses. Many are very nice horses whos owners just don't have time, or are having to move. Many are also free leases for people who are in college or out of town. Give it a look, that's where I found mine!

There is no such thing as a good horse for free. any horse that is for free is going to have many, many problems... and really if you cant pay for the horse how are you gonna pay for the horses bills? I knew a girl who got a horse for free and 1 week later they found out it had cancer and it had to be put to sleep.

lol, in your dreams????

Good horses aren't handed out. If you want a cheap horse, look at adoption groups...they have horses with cheap fees, but they are VERY picky about your equipment and where you keep your horse.

If you can't buy it then chances are you can't afford to keep it. Take lessons or something...don't get a horse that you're not going to be able to take care of.

Call some equine vets in the area, they may know someone or come across someone.

Best of luck,

There's not really a horse for free.... But I know wat your talking about. Um, you could try equine.com and there are some that are well trained for free or a very low price like 200 dollars.

Hope you find wat you're looking for.
