Metallics like copper and bronze and gold are great for accenting brown eyes. Also use brown, beige, champage, khaki and olive greens. Or go wild and use hot pink, tangerine, lime green or bright blue. It's up to you.
General makeup tips for brown eyes always include browns, beige and neutral tans. Grays and charcoals look good with this eye color, as do violet and lavender.
Khaki and olive green are a great color combination. Browns with green highlights or copper highlights are always a fun option. Try copper and even gold. If your eyes have a tinge of green, choose green eyeshadows as well.
You'll find that even though you've heard that you should never wear an eyeshadow the same color as your eyes, that brown shadow can look very good with brown eyes and green shadow can look very good with green eyes. Sometimes it's a matter of finding the "right" shade. Brown eyeshadows are all pretty safe, so you don't have to worry too much about those. Colors like purple, green and blue require a bit more testing.
Black is out, so don’t use it as an eyeshadow.
Keep trying until you find a color you like. You'll know when it's right- trust your instincts.
Colors To Avoid
Certain pink and mauve eyeshadows can cause you to look swollen or puffy around your eyes. It isn't true for all women or for all pinks, either. But if you're certain you don't want to risk it, avoid pinks. Mauves also fall into this category. It may be because women with brown eyes tend to have more yellow skintones making them warm complexioned and pinks and mauves are definitely cool colors. The blue in the pinks can react with the yellow of the skin producing an unattractive feature.
And while it isn't specifically makeup tips for brown eyes, you may want to avoid blue eyeshadow too. There's the misconception that blue eyeshadow is "out", but like I said, it really depends on who's wearing it. Playing it safe would include skipping this color.
Silvers are not a good color for brown eyes. They tend to cause a “washed out” look. Leave silver for blue eyes.
Here are more makeup tips for brown eyes.
Eyeliner Colors
Brown eyes always should include dark brown and black eyeliner. These are very good choices for this eye color. Don’t line your black liner too thick, though. That’s passé. Raccoon eyes are a big no-no.
Navy, forest green, violet and copper are also great eyeliner choices. Play around with the different colors and pick the ones you like best.
There are also some great mineral eye shadows out there that can double as eyeliner. You can use them dry or wet for different looks. I have listed a couple of sites under resources for you.

You should be happy to have big brown eyes, most girls would kill to have such a feature. The beauty of having big eyes is that you can coordinate your shadows according to your wardrobe. I have brown eyes also and I determine the color of my shadow on what I'm wearing that day. There will be days where you have the time to spare and you can apply your make-up with fine detail and there will be days were you need the simple basics. A must have is Mac's shade stick color Shimmer-sand, this is what I use as a base for any color. It is a glimmer shadow with a tone of tan, this accentuates the eyes when you are going all out or for an every day look. I love my pencil liner, having big eyes myself it helps to make your look sexy and put together. I do recommend that you don't do a black liner use a dark brown or charcoal color. You can always go to a Mac counter and they'll help you coordinate your colors-that's what I did!

I have brown eyes as well. Depending on the amount of light present, they can be light brown or dark brown. The best way to go, if you want to look subtle yet beautiful, is to just use a little bit of glitter. I have some wonderful copper-brown glitter that just sparkles on my eyes every time I use it. The ratio of how much you put on depends on how dark your skin is. I'm Indian, so my skin tone is slightly cappuccino-tan, and I find a small amount works well. I roll some on and use my finger to spread it around. It can wear off depending on your lifestyle, so I always carry mine around so I can refresh it. If you just want to stick to a solid eyeshadow, try one that doesn't stand out too much against your skin. Unless you want people coming up to you and asking you if you got in a fight ;-) stay away from mauve and plums. Try some subtle reds or light gold. Warm colors work very well with brown eyes. I wish you luck in finding the perfect eyeshadow!!

Get a compact made especially for brown eyes (Almay and Avon have them). Brown eyes look best with a pink allover base, light brown accents on the outer corners and browbone, and dark brown at the outer corners lightly. Also lavenders with a light touch will contrast nicely with brown eyes. Skip on the eyeliner also, it's too heavy for your eyes.

I have big brown eyes too. I found after many years of eye shadow mistakes, that I look better without it. I only use eyeliner to define the eyes. Rarely mascara.
Depending on how dressed up you are going to be, less is better.
Colors like green and browns are good for me. I found some really sexy shiny eye color but I can't remember who it's by. They are in little sticks. But it is only for fancy dress up events.
I got it in the make up dept. of CVS.
I experiment a lot with it. Maybe you should do that.

Your looks resemble mine! I use a variety of different colors depending on what im wearing but it seems like gold on the lid and a brassy-bronze color brown in between the lid and brow makes my eyes pop! ...but still has the natural look. Also purple makes my eyes look lighter for some reason...and silver with a little black lining works wonders for me too. :) give the gold and bronze/brown a shot!

BROWNS earth tones... always work great...
for a little change try pinks and eyeliner--mascara...your eyes are your focal point of your face, bring them out but be settle... NEVER use blues they make you look like a drag queen, i am pale as hell with brown eyes and brown hair, earth tones are my friends, but sometimes pinks look ok, if i use them with eyeliner!

I would say... well I don't know exactly, but try something smoky, not like "oh look my tear ducts are smoke stacks", but i mean, try dark-ish brown than with gold shimmer. i have a friend who has gorgeous big brown eyes, adn that's what she does :) but she only wears very little, I have no idea particularly what you look like, so I don't know how much you would but on, but try it, it could work.
