Many women have fibrocystic breasts for different reasons.
It's good you're seeing a doc. & he/she can keep an eye on them with you. You should always do a self breast exam. Usually, your breast tend to be more tender right before menstruating.

Keep in mind that abnormal growths are present because the environment we have created in our body will support it, and it is often getting stronger because of what we are consuming in the way of foods, liquids or environmental poisons. Medical research teams have concluded that iodine deficiency is a common reason for fibrocystic breast tumors, which has become quite ramped in women today. Other factors that contribute to that are hormone imbalances, chemical fertilizers, sprays, insecticides, and herbicides, all of which destroy or distort the enzymes, vitamins and minerals which our body requires to maintain some quality of health. Common sense would tell us that if the environment in the body is supporting the unwelcome growth, best to change the environment so that we are no longer feeding and housing what we wish to eliminate.

You didn't mention your age or whether your doctor is suggesting that you have a mammogram, which would distinguish cysts from other breast changes that may be more worrisome. Breast cysts are not harmful but can be uncomfortable. They can become especially sore prior to your period. Try cutting out all caffeine and see if that helps. In the meantime, do follow your doctor's recommendations on monitoring the lumps, and best of luck!

fibrocystic breast disease is very common and can be made worse by things like caffeine, smoking, sugar and gets much worse with variation in hormones. they are benign cysts but your doctor is right in keeping an eye on them. i have very large fibrocystic breasts and when i have mamograms i must have ultrasounds after to determine which lumps are cysts and which aren't...sometimes this can take hours. fortunately they have all just been fibrous tissue and benign. over time you may be able to tell but only the tests can tell for sure. remember, the younger you are (under 40) the more dense your breast tissue is so a mammogram really can't tell much so it's impt to get to know the feel of your own breasts and that way you can feel subtle changes.

A mammogram and biopsy should tell you. Listen to your doctor and/or get a second opinion.
