Many of the first creations of Tuliene were more powerful then the Mortals she later created. Among those creations was a great stone that she brought to life. Morgrid the first of the earth races. Both Gnome and Dwarf in nature he set out constructing from the earth the great Storm Forge. Using the Forge he built a cities of wonder. His Cities however were empty and lonely.
Feeling Morgrid’s loneliness, Tuliene gave to him some clay that she has blessed. The Clay could be shaped any way that Morgrid desired. Once it Hardened, it would come to life as a mortal race. Morgrid immediately toke most of the clay and crafted it into the first dwarves. Morgrid gave the dwarves his strength and constitution, his desire and aspiration for great works of stone and metal as well as dedication to order. His new creations manned the forge with him and for a time he was happy.
Yet as time passed, Morgrid grew unhappy with his creation. The dwarves possessed great skill, yet all of their works seemed the same. Eventually Morgrid realized that he forgot to give his children imagination and innovation. To achieve this, Morgrid used the last of the clay and created the first gnomes. These gnomes held wondrous imagination, yet once again Morgrid realized forgot something. The gnomes creations were intricate and complex, yet they lacked the practicalities required to make most of them work properly.
While other gods saw the War of the Immortals as a method of gaining power, Morgrid saw it only as a way to cause pain to his children. Because of this, Morgrid worked to protect as many of his people as he could from the effects of the other god's squabbles instead of fighting.
When the War of the Immortals started, one of the first cities to be attacked was Stormforge. The power of the Stormforge allowed mortals to create great weapons of magical power and thus it was very prized by both sides. Wishing to take no part in the war, Morgrid was forced to remove the Stormforge from the Material Plane and take it to his own personal domain. Dispite this, the City of Stormforge still stands to this day.
