Me and my friend were sitting at lunch today and talking about all the diff types like emo,goth,seen, and stuff like that and she told me that she thought that the punks died out in the 90's... do you think this is true? Like truly punk? Not poser punk....

It's died down a bit, but I don't think it's dead. You can still see some hardcores out on the street.

That happened in the 80s not the 90s

No. You just have to look for them. Try gigs and seeing underground punk bands.

I think most of them got tired and just became regular.
There's a movie about this: "New York Doll".
I occasionally see some young ones around, with mohawks and such.

No, they still drive around in cars that sound like lawnmowers, or stereos blaring.
