Why would a Christian join AI?

AI works for the release of innocent men, women, and children who are wrongfully put in prison or mistreated by their governments. Amnesty International calls these detainees prisoners of conscience because they are imprisoned for peacefully expressing their opinions and have neither used nor advocated violence. "
A number of the people who AI actively helps are Christians, generally in Muslim majority countries. That and "peacefully expressing their opinions and have neither used nor advocated violence " is Christ-like.

No inclination to look into either their faith or AI. 'Christian' is an easy title to claim.
