Trust me when I say that having sex will be just about the last thing on your mind for a while. Think about all that has just happened in that area. It needs time to heal, it's not going to feel normal there for a while. Plus you are going to be up at all hours of the night feeding and changing and caring for the baby. Personally I always wait the recommended 6 weeks (I'd wait longer but my hubby is usually going nuts by then lol). Just enjoy the break lol.

I've heard my mom say that the minimum a woman should wait to have sex after giving birth is 40 days.

well our doctor told us to have sex right up till the baby was due, but after the baby he said to wait the minimum of 2 months. thats what we were told years ago, but i do not know if this holds true today. the best thing to do is to ask your doctor and this is a type of question you could probably get answered over the phone by one of the nurses there. just my opinion.

I tried to start again after three weeks but it did'nt work out so I waited about 8-10 weeks with both children.

Until my 6 wk checkup. It's very important to make sure everything was healed before I did that again! Also, you're extremely fertile and could end up pregnant again. Be prepared that it will likely be a little sore the first time, even at 6 wks or more!

After my first we had sex again after 2 weeks ( I only bled for a week) and after my second we started again after 3 weeks ( bled for 2 weeks)

Atleast minimum 6 weeks but if you can control your emotion,better after 3 months time.
