It's not going to make any difference, whoever they pick. The system is crap, the manager is crap, can't keep the ball when they have a good lead, they panic near the end in every match. Don't mark the opposition properly when they haven't got the ball, don't use the open spaces well enough when they do have the ball.
And the goalkeepers are crap..... you don't come/stand off your line unless it's just you versus the striker. Robinson should repair the divots in his goal area, and the ball wouldn't bobble up on him.

I think the last World Cup team was.
Rooney had a broken foot.
Owen was not in form.
Crouch is a circus freak.
Becks plays ZERO defense.
And no one could hit a spot kick.
I like the shake up.
Everyone has a chance.
Just not the big names.
Barton and Barry are good choices.
I do think David James is a better keeper.
Robinson just ain't all that.

I don't think so...because we thought the team that went to WC 2006 was good..but they never played great..Defoe,SWP,Barton, Johnson and these kind of players might give some changes that England need. So unless we see his England team in 3-4 Matches, you can never judge right.
But I feel they are going to be better than the EC 2006 squad.

I understand the need to test out younger players. However, the team is playing badly and is short of playing time together. Whats the point in the friendly if not used to practice and work the first team.

Since it is only a friendly, i would say that McClaren is just getting a feel for some of the younger players and getting them some caps so that they could step in and play decently if needed during important matches.
