I started with Incredible String Band and moved through Pink Floyd, Genesis ('Lamb lies Down on Broadway' period), Echo and the Bunnymen, REM and Radiohead (amongst others). I have drifted away from listening to new music over the last few years and want to know what I should be listening to now.

The obvious one would be my fave band Muse (seeing as you like Radiohead and Pink Floyd) Black Holes and Revelations their most recent album is the most accessible, but Origin of Symmetry and Absolution are better. For something a bit lighter, Keane, Coldplay, Snow Patrol might float your boat if you're after something in the Radiohead vein.

You might also like the Secret Machines (well proggy!), the Guillemots and Gomez. The Klaxons are the thing the press are raving on about at the mo, they're different to Radiohead, but they're worth checking out.

Aaahhhh a Modern Rock man. New music basically sucks. It all sounds alike. I've really gotten into DeathCab for Cutie and The Raconteurs. I still listen to Radiohead, Echo, Floyd, The Cure, etc. Try DeathCab. AFI isn't too bad. A bit overrated, but suddenly popular in the highschool EMO crowd. I honestly think I'd like AFI better if the highschool kids didn't just like them cause of their look but cause of the talent. Hey, let me know what you think of them when you check them out.

forget about the future man, the past is where the greatest recordings were made. there is nothing now adays as brilliant as the good old days. I'm nearly 17 and you'd swear i was as old as the hills but i truly believe nothing is as good as that of the classics. I'll be fair, I'm not your average music listener, i don't listen to music just cause i like the way it sounds(not that theres anything wrong with that)i like to delve deeper into the music and understand what it is about the events that the music surrounded. if you were really into pink floyd why not get afew DOORS albums and books and read about them. Jim Morrison was a poet in every sense of the word and he was a great singer, yeah he got drunk and s hit like that, but come on if you were able to you would too. don't even lie!!!
heres afew tracks for you to listen to
the doors- moonlight drive, love me two times, five to one,
hell just it all man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BREAK ON THRU

I recommend the Flaming Lips, they're great. I love their psychedelic sound. But, I don't see why you would want to listen to other things because of whatever is going on right now. It really doesn't matter that much. Besides, Radiohead kicks ***. I can understand you not wanting to move on from them.

Keane. No doubt about it. Not listened to Echo and the Bunnymen for years - must seek them out again. No shame in listening to quality music whatever the era.

Wow, you're cool and have a good musical taste! Try Muse, Athlete and Snow Patrol if you want to listen to recent bands. Have you heard any Smiths albums too?? You might like them.
