Does it really matter if hispanics think it is racist or not? I don't like being called it and I think it is racist. Isn't that a good enough reason for people to stop using it?

Hey gringo! Boy I love using that term(and yes I know that it is racist)! I think they know it is a racist term but don't really give a rat's behind. It's obvious that you don't care when you all use the term ******* knowing that it is racist and when you all call Hispanics by whatever racist name you all came up with. You all don't care so why should we?! Don't expect anyone to take pity on you because being called a gringo is the least of white people's problems.

I gage an insult by intent. As a kid everyone had a term for blacks that can't be used today. Sometimes it was used with malice, but other times not. I watched the change in the late 60's and saw the beginning of the beast called political correctness today. Garbage men became sanitation engineers, and cops became Law Enforcement Specialists.

The correctness continued until today midgets are called Vertically Challenged people or small people. Fatties are horizontally challenged people. The male gays may become vaginally challenged people. Lesbians may become penisophobes. People with IQs below 80 may become cerebrely challenged. White people may become melanonially challenged. Jews could become Jesus-deficient. Muslims could become Sus scrofa domesticaphobic. Catholics could be alcoholic overachievers. Baptists would be alcoholic deficients. Jehovah Witnesses would be Doorbell Junkies. Mormons would be called Osmondites. It would just keep going on until people couldn't understand each other any more and all previous written books would become gibberish. Steven King may be able to go somewhere with this!

Gringo is an exceedingly common term used by latinamericans. that's stated again from the conflicts between human beings and Mexicans, the place American's uniforms have been all eco-friendly, and that they could get yelled at "flow, eco-friendly, flow!" it rather is the main i've got heard of it. nevertheless those days it has considered one of those "you-white-american" connotation, consistent with probability a sprint offensive to a pair. desire it facilitates.

I take Spanish. My spanish teacher is white. She has called herself a gringo to her Hispanic student all the time. They always have a laugh about it. You are being too sensitive

Raynebow above is correct. The Mexicans got tired of hearing the song being sang so often that they began calling them gringros, which eventually deviated into gringo.

Well, in espanol gringo means American, someone who is white with no Hispanic background.Hispanics do not think of it as raciest simply because it's not meant to be raciest. Its not a bad thing at all. Hispanics are very friendly with these terms and if you feel offended, simply try explaining these emotions to them. I'm sure they will understand.

The world has become too sensative. If its ment to be offensive be offended, but if not then don't be because I'm sure you've said something that could be seen as offensive so don't take it personal
