Before you can select any hosting service, free or otherwise you need to know what services you "absolutely" need. Then you need to know the services "would be a plus" for what you want to accomplish.

-Do you "need" database access?
-Do you "need" server side scripting like php/ASP/ASP.net?
-Do you need 500 gigs storage for massive photograph/video library?
yada, yada, yada
-Do you need 1meg or 100 gig of bandwidth per month?

Once you know "YOUR" requirements then you can compare that to the offerings the others here feel confident is the best solution. (Yet that don't know your needs...how can that be?).

What would happen if some day you got your "Big Break" and your "free" site issued notices "monthly bandwidth exceeded". YIKES!

You only asked for no advertisements, well there are many more criteria to consider before investing 100's if not 1000's of hours promoting a web site.

Did you consider that deep in a user agreement the site you create may not be your own after you check "I agree".

If you are serious about creating websites for your business, don't go for free webhosting as they are not reliable and you may end up losing all your work. They usually put ads on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you intend to create a few websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website), go for multiple web hosting where you could handle your websites in one account.

Visit Following webhosting , they are quite good.

Hostmonster http://anurl.com/?PQMRY

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge $4.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
Visit the site to check details.

Domains
Following site is quite good to register domains as price is reasonable with free privacy. Some charge about $5/ year just for free privacy.

Try www.awardspace.com

They have no ads at all, and you get a fair amount of space - 200 MB with 5 GB monthly traffic. You can also use PHP, Perl, and mySQL, and uploads through FrontPage. If you have a domain you can also have it transferred and get up to 5 free email accounts for the domain. Your address is a subdomain like [username].awardspace.com . Visit their site for more info.

The only downside so far has been no SMTP for sending email. You can view my current site at http://aibopassion.awardspace.com
