It depends on where you live. Yes, if you're in an area where you need to access most things by car it is a turnoff because you need to rely on other people for transportation.
When I was 20, I lived in Stockholm. Everything was accessible by subway and no cars were needed.

No, not if you are still able to effectively commute in the area in which you live. For example in a city with a good transit system it is generally more convient, and cost effective not to own a vehical.
AS for this being a turn off, not in the least, as long as you are not always bumming rides, and you take responsibility for getting yourself from where you are to where you need to be. For example being willing to take the bus, or hire a taxi, and not phoning your Mom or Dad or girlfriend for a ride.

Are you a male? If so then yes. Only because it shows that you want things in life and you are stable enough to afford it and the insurance. Even if it's a pinto...that's ok with me. It shows ownership and you don't have to rely on anyone for transportation.

No I wouldn't consider it a turnoff, This is something that you don't have and never say that you want.

It depends. If it's because you are lazy and unambitious then yes, it is a turn off. If you are working towards a car, then no, I think it's admirable that you are trying to obtain one by working.

not necessarily.. if you are able to get around on your own without relying on someone else all the time, then you have the eligibility to be equally as sexy as someone who owns a car... but if you're a bum.... always bumming rides with other people.. that ISN'T cool.
