I mean really... what does it really mean??? You know it's bad and everything but what message do you try to get accross with it???

It started in the middle ages when crossbowmen would have their index fingers cut off by enemy armies. They learned how to use their middle finger instead, and then they would lift it to show they still had one finger to kill the enemy with. Basically it was a way of saying "Haha, **** you, idiots." Today it means basically the same thing: "Forget you" (only a less polite F-word than forget)

Until now I don't know exactly what it means, but I can guess the person ,who shows his middle finger at you, is really mad at you. He wants to say very bad language to you.

Note that is body language only works in US. Some other countries use different finger with the same meaning.
