What a great question!

Yes, he would have. He would have struggled in his first term with scandal -- the most notable of which would have been when he would have arrogantly torn the "do not remove" tag from a White House mattress, then, realizing his blunder, would have allocated dozens of CIA specialists to seamlessly reattach the tag. In his second term, however, he would have founded some organization or another to solve some kind of world problem. Hunger maybe. Or Narcolepsy. Probably Narcolepsy.

Anyway, he would have won the Nobel prizes for both peace and medicine, and we all would have loved him.

Anyway, that's the way it would have gone down. Glad you asked.

That is hard to tell. We do know his veracity was open to question. He used his position as attorney general to cover for his brother. Like all the Kennedys, he was relying on his family's influence to get elected. If he had been an ordinary guy, he did not have the talents to rise to the top. But, he may have surprised me.

He was just as experienced as JFK and Teddy at running naked around the White House swimming pool with a bunch of call girls. Would he really have been your choice?

Perhaps, but we'll never know, will we? History is a one-way street. We only get to see what happens, not what would have happened if not for....whatever.
