They can defile the so-called holy places as much as they want, they are only places - not faith itself in what is Holy. If defending your home makes you as an insurgent, I suppose I would be. But not for the intentional desecration of a something that is only symbol of faith and not faith itself.

I'd pat them on the back and invite them to dinner if I had had a barbarian like Saddam killing approximately 100,000 people a year to stay in power. I wouldn't blame them if my countrymen where impeding them at every turn and organizing and fighting from the churches. They defile their own religion by plotting mass murder in the name of God. And they are very good at it. If they were indiscriminately blowing up innocent folks on a daily basis, your damned right i'd support the invaders. If it is such a stretch to figure out who the bad guys are in this situation, common sense has escaped you.

I believe in God, but not in a religion. Subsequently, I do not have to defend my faith or a holy place. However, I would freely strap a bomb to my *** to defend my home and my family from an invading army.

Probably, if that was their intent.
What if an invading army came and freed you from a tyrant who had murdered hundreds of thousands?
What if that invading army was your only hope for freedom?
What if your country was in jeopardy of becoming a slave of radical islamists bent upon making the world become Muslim...and killing those who do not (i.e. infidels)?

If you hide in your holy places and behind women and children while at war then you are a coward and should expect the destruction of the things you hold dear.

Yes, I would. I would first try to ask them to leave by any legal means possible, but once that didn't work? Insurgency it is. No matter what they said their good intentions were.
