I'm writing an essay for school and already have the first two, but I need three. I can't think of the last one. So far, I have 1.) the undermining of basic civil rights and, in the U.S.'s case, the undermining of basic principles that our constitution was founded on. 2.) the threat of fascist exploitation and the agenda of furthering government control.

What should the final body paragraph be about?

I would go with...censorship hurts the ability to get open communication and stifles access to information...think of Galileo being censored even though he had come up with information that was influential to science and mathematics.

Who is to decide what is to be censored? The list of books that have been banned over the years is truly startling so it is clear that censorship can't be trusted to a few individuals and certainly not to elected officials or to religous leaders. You might take a look at this website if you get a chance.

Depends what kind of censorship laws you are talking about.

The first amendment does not guarantee the right to be heard.

For example, if the government said you are not allowed to publish anything about the government is a violation of the first amendment.

However, if Walmart decides not to carry Maxim magazine because they consider it offensive, that is a form of censorship, but that is not a violation of the first amendment.

The most important one is the endangerment of our first ammendment rights to freedom of speech and expression.
