Amylase and Pepsin are all enzymes- enzymes catalyse chemical reactions, and are basically involved in all metabolic reactiosn in the body.

The specific function of amylase and pepsin is to break down macromolecules in your food you eat to smaller molecules that you can digest. Amylase breaks down starch into glucose, and pepsin breaks down polypeptides into shorter peptides or amino acids
