Hi i'm having a huge issue at home. My younger sister likes to go on MY computer all day and since i dont want to be mean, I allow her to. But recently it has gotten out of hand. She spends the whoolleee day on myspace. Her whole day after school is just myspace. I dont even think she`s doing her hw anymore just cuz she rather be on myspace and she likes to eat while web browsing so as soon as she done with her "myspacing" she just leaves the garbage there. When i ask her to clean it.. she said she claims that she will do it later but noo all she does later is more "myspaceing" and then goes 2 sleep, so i always end up having to clean it.

Anyhoww getting back on point, I want to block myspace from my computer ****temporaily***** until the summertime for her own good. How do I do this? And later on how do I undo it?

Simply add it to the Blocked site list for the Browser.

You will be able to set a password so that you can allow her access when she 'deserves' it...

In InterNet Explorer it is under
Tools / Internet Options / Content / Content Advisor / Settings

Then go to the ApprovedSites tab and add myspace.com and click "never"..

There are similar ways to block for other browsers...

And you can also block it at the DSL or Cable Modem's filter as well...

Keep you password(s) safe...

GOOD LUCK

If you have a PC, find the Hosts file and edit it. IT will be in these locations:

Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP Home c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Once you have the file open, add an entry like this:

127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com

That will block myspace. To unblock it, just delete those lines.

place a few specific web sites into Internet Explorer's Restricted Zones using security levels and zones. IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security - Restricted Sites - Sites.

If she figures out how to change the settings in IE. Then you can try editing the hosts file.

Start --> Run --> C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

Open up the file hosts with "notepad"

add the following entry:

127.0.0.1 myspace.com

This will prevent access for any browser that runs in windows.
