There is no telling. I voted for Bush twice but IMO the borders are his worst failure. I voted for Reagan and his border policy (amnesty) was also poor. Bush Sr. and Clinton also sucked on border security. The front runners for the Presidential nomination don't offer solutions either (except one). The only way that any of our politicians will take the issue seriously is if they see that their failure to do so will cost them the vote.

What a odd question---are you asking for a number? Which terrorist? Timothy McVeigh? The 9/11 terrorists who entered legally and attended flight school? It isn't that difficult to enter legally on a tourist visa and not leave. You do have a valid concern, though. I live in a state that borders Mexico and I have driven in and out of Mexico many times without American border guards even being on duty. Only a few months ago I crossed at Yuma, Az. and there were no guards. On another trip, the American guard didn't even get out of his booth or ask us a single question. Just waved us past his station--and we had clothes hanging in the window and you could not see into our vehicle. Before you blame the Democrats, you'd better check on the Republicans who opposed the President's immigration proposals and a border fence--which is a stupid idea. We build a 6 foot fence and they build a 7 foot ladder. 40% of the illegal immigrants entered by bus or plane, anyway. It is not necessary for anyone but the poorest of the poor to risk crossing the desert of Arizona or the mountains of New Mexico to enter the U.S. And-how about those day passes for people to enter the U.S. to shop in El Paso or San Diego for a day--but don't return? How stupid do you think the terrorists are? Only 20% of the cargo coming in by ship is even x-rayed or checked in any manner. I'll leave the Canada border issue to someone who lives further north than I.

Lets put the whole truth out on the table while were at it. It is not just Bush and the Democratic Congress. This has gone on now for the last 5 or 6 Administrations and NO ONE in Washington will do anything to stop it. A contractor once told me that for about 1.4 billion, we could build a 2100 mile double fence virtually impenetrable. That's about what we are spending every three weeks in Iraq. The INS has physically caught illegals not from just Mexico, but North Korea, Peru, Syria, Lebanon, China and other countries as well. I hate to say it, but it will probably take another large scale terrorist attack before any one gets serious about controlling our borders.

The open border policy goes way back even before the Bush days.

Th Democratic congress has absolutely no effect on border policy.
That is handled entirely by the executive branch, headed by one George W. Bush.
Anyway, the Democratic congress is not even a month old.

Let's talk about open borders. What has George W. Bush done to tighten border security?
Anyone? Anyone?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
