Because money gives you the ability to do things, to have choices. If you don't have money, you go to work, and do what the boss says.

If you have money, you can give to charity, if you want to. You can work, if you want to. You can give your children opportunities, if you want to.

If you become sick, you can afford the best medical care, not what the NHS or your medical aid decides is the affordable option. And you can take time of to recuperate properly, not have to be back at work when your sickleave expires.

So I don't have to panic every time something goes wrong at work. Right now I have to work in order to live, but if i didn't have to I could just enjoy my job and shrug off any problems with it.
