i'm straight too. i have been married for 8 years now and i have a 5 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. and i truley wish that gay marriages would become legal! at this age my children don't have any sexual feelings yet but when they are old enough to get in a committed realtionship i am going to support their choice of straight or gay. and i would like to be able to watch my kids get married no matter which sex they marry. if all else fails...i'll be flying my family to canada for a wedding (or two) if one of my kids (or both) end up being gay.

Well, sad to say I don't think it'll happen in 5 years. I mean gay marriage will be legal in the future in America. The new generation is far more open-minded than the old, and is more in tune with the idea that "All men are created equal.", not just straight, white, Christian, males. I'd guess taking into the account the increasing rate of the increase of acceptance and tolerance towards GLBTs by society at large, in 20-40 years, gay marriage will be legal in the U.S. at both the federal and state levels.
And John S is an idiot and the website under his source is pure propaganda.

I doubt it, but I do think that just maybe with the next administration in the US it will at least be talked about. What I suspect will happen first will be some sort of national civil union plan put in place. I think once that happens and people take advantage of it, and detractors calm down seeing the world won't end, someone somewhere will have a reason plausible enough for the case for SSM to be heard by the USSC.

I agree with you!! I think if we had either a Black or Woman president then it would likely be legalized. Makes no since why people are allowed 6 or 7 marriages/divorces but a same sex couple can't go at once!! Just another example of the discrimination that is systematically used by our great government.

No, and it's not just because of "the right wing fundies" that the gay community are so quick to blame.
Even the very liberal states where "fundies" can't stop this if democrats wanted to pass a gay marriage bill.
New York and California have outright bans on gay marriage, Vermont and New Jersey just provide a second class status of civil unions, and in Massachusetts, the voters are going to overturn the courts ruling allowing gay marriages.
The truth is that gay marriage will never pass because as long as this is an issue, the democrats will be able to use it to their advantage. Once gay marriage is allowed, why would anyone have a reason to vote for them again. And you fools fall for it every time.

i believe that it will. this country has become a lot more liberal throughout the years and even if it doesnt in the next 5 years it will eventually. it will take some time, but no doubt it is going to be my generation who will further break a lot of barriers still instilled in our society. we're slowly getting there... massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage and i think new jersey just did it too.

it really is my favor that the California case will make it to the U. S. very optimum perfect courtroom docket. The ban grew to develop into into exceeded through skill of a majority vote, yet can although be challenged interior the California very optimum perfect courtroom docket and if the California courtroom docket refuses to override the vote on constitutional grounds, the allure might want to then bypass to Washington. If the U. S. very optimum perfect courtroom docket regulations that the ban violates the U. S. structure, the criminal precedent may be set through skill of which all states will finally fall into line.
