Madison is at a latitude of 43 degrees north of the equator. There are 90 degrees between the equator and the north pole. 45 degrees would be exactly half-way between the equator and the pole. So Madison is slightly closer to the equator than to the north pole.

I would say the equator, because the magnetic north pole is quite far away from the US

i believe the equator or halfway in between both
