If you feel satisfied with the customer service, then it's good. If not, it's bad. It's all personal. Different people have different expectations. Just because many people have encountered "bad customer service" doesn't necessarily mean you will too. From my experience, customer service has always met my expectations in resolving my issues despite having negative comments online. Personally, I don't think customer service is out to get people. Most of the time, the trouble is caused by people who complain excessively and want to take advantage of customer service. Then again, you should know what kind of retailer you are contacting.

calming you down as your probably highly stressed after the probable 5 min, pressing nos on the phone keypad for all the different options... . then being understanding about your probable engagement... . there's a big telephone company out there with 2 main letters and there customer service sucks big style... .
it will take anything between 5 to 30 mins to get through to them, they then do not seem to want your call, so they transfer you elsewhere and then your advised you have been transferred to the wrong department, when this happens they then tell you to call back on a different no. you advise them that this is of no use as you have already been on this call for over 30 mins, they argue with you get you stressed, then the blighters put the phone down on you... . what is that all about??? ?
anyway there service sucks, glad I`m now with a cable operator, nice simple to call normally taken within 5 mins tops... . no stress... .
customer service should be courteous, understanding, professional and some rapport... . there's a load of major companies think they have this covered and there a mile off the mark... .
that made me irate tying it, think what there doing to our health... . arrrgggggghhhhhrhrhrhrhrhhrrrrr!!! !

this is how I see it. there is a difference between serving a customer and customer service. anyone can serve a customer (including computers if you count things like cash machines) but not everyone can deliver good customer service. it means giving a human touch whilst having the efficiency of a well oiled machine. that is why lots of people prefer to use bank clerks as opposed to holes in the wall - it's more sociable. but if they don't get efficient customer service it's invariably worse than if they had used the cash machine. that is why it is important to have high standards and competency.
hope that helps...

Good customer service is personal service. Nobody feels valued if they have to talk to a call centre.
If someone is willing to give me their name and see any problem through to the end, then they have a customer for life (in me at least).

I think that when someone has to deal with a customerrs complaint, it is good practice to imagine what you would want from Customer Services if you were making the same complaint. Always put yourself inthe customers position.

Quality products with quality back up.
Other than that, "The customer is ALWAYS right" must be modified to take defensive measures against the burgeioning con artist sector.
Gift cards that expire should be outlawed. At least they should not expire for seven years.

great attention to customers
having the information the customers need
being able to take action when a customer needs something ( and not having to go through 5 layers of management to solve the issue )

A warm smile, introduce yourself, ask them there name.
knowledge of product or products, this will give you More confidence, and that is very important!
Ask the right questions, what would you like this product to do? where do you plan to use it, how often do you use it, how soon do you need it. stuff like that get them talking and you will sell every time. Keep them involved, don't talk to much about you let them talk about themselves. Try to use there name people like that.
