I'm a single guy looking to do some site-seeing and visiting the clubs in the area. Which is the best places to go and the most economical places to stay. I'm from U.S. and have visited other Asian countries before and love the people. Girls are beautiful and nice. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You.

I prefer Singapore, but they're so close to each other, I advise you to see both. Malaysia is very cheap to travel around. Spend a few days in Singapore, then take a bus or train to Malaysia where you can visit the beaches or you can go to Kuala Lumpur if you like cities.

singapore is small but nice. Plenty of clubs and easy and safe to go around. Well Road sign in malaysia is as any other road sign in the world. instead of street, its called jalan. Just like in Rome its called via. Anyhow, as a person who lived in Singapore for 10 years, i could safely say that i preferred Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Nightlife and restaurants is aplenty, in Malaysia everywhere u turn u see chinese, In Kuala Lumpur its more diversify. I say visit both.

definitely Malaysia is the best.Singapore is a very small Island and of course very little place to be visited and the cost of living there is also high.Unlike Singapore, Malaysia is a big country with variety of places to visit.Furthermore this year is visit malaysia year.Things also a lot more cheaper in Malaysia.

Singapore is very small - it's a big city and not really anything else - and relatively expensive. Malaysia is big, varied and relatively inexpensive (unless you stay at i.e. Pangkor Laut (private island resort) or the Datai in Langkawi. East Malaysia (aka Borneo) is also relatively expensive and requires a plane trip from KL.

Be aware although some of the beach resorts on the East Coast of the mainland and the north coast of Langkawi are beautiful, they are very quiet and there's no alcohol sold (or even allowed) on beaches. Tioman Island is very popular for divers, as are islands off Borneo. Penang is notoriously cheap and has a distinctly Chinese flavor. There are lots of decent hostels in the Cameron Highlands - nice for getting out into nature but nowhere near a beach and pretty much rains all the time. Of the beach resorts, Langkawi is probably still nicest (haven't been in a while) and there is lots of choice of places to stay for different budgets, including simple Thai-style bungalows (Langkawi is geographically close to Thailand and there are regular ferry boats going between the two). I can attest that although the diving's not much to yell about, the water is like clear turquoise bathwater and the sand is like talcum powder. Fish and shellfish cheap (depending on where you eat, of course) and fantasticly fresh - all caught right there. And the place is incredibly safe. My husband left his watch, t-shirt and sunglasses on the beach while he went snorkelling and forgot about them. An hour later we went back and there was a guy walking around asking people, "Is this your stuff?". It would have been so easy for him to just walk off with it; it also would have been easy for anybody else he asked to claim it was theirs. Really honest people.

Malaysia is famous for its national parks, which are really out of this world. You have to get permits in advance, but you can actually sleep in a tree house in the jungle for a couple of dollars in the National Park, which is as close as you will get to pristine rain forest in mainland SE Asia.

I am from Sabah, Malaysian Borneo - I'd definitively say Malaysia, too! Why not fly into Singapore, stay there for a night or so (great nighlife, I hear, but expensive), then cross into Malaysia. Lots of clubs, for sure, but as mentioned above girls might not be as easily available as in Thailand. You'd probably end up with a Filipina or an Indonesian... Definitively better for sight seeing, nature & adventure than for nightlife...

Both are nice....

You go Malaysia, you can view lots of natural places.... It's big and cheap.. As the above member is promoting beach... You cant possible spend your whole holiday on beach right?

But Singapore is small, once you step into SIngapore from Johor Bahru, you will see the different. Yes, it is small, but remember, human being are small too... You will take 2 months to visit the whole malaysia but you only need 1 to 3 weeks to visit the whole Singapore (only to those tourist attraction)..... I don't thnk you got to spend so long 2 months in holiday right?

So, my advise is... go KL first , follow by Malacca, then Johor, then come SIngpapore... You can't visit Asia without Singapore...

Singapore- Transport is eazy, MRT cover the whole city, Buses cover the whole city. Singapore whole city road sign is using English while Malaysia is Malay. Clean and garden city with 300 over parks. But also a 'fine' country.... lol...

As above member said so much about Malaysia, i will promote Singpapore here... ;p
