i went to the opticians recently becsue of lots of floaters (black marks on my eyes), but aswell as these i have a couple of other issues.

in the centre of my eyesight, when looking at the sky i can see lots of what i describe as small white bubbles floating downwards.
Also (i know it sounds weird but its hard to explain) what look like hundreds of bright little flies moving around on the surface of my eyes.
finally, sometimes i notice that my vision looks like it is made of close togther vertical lines (sort of like a finger print).

well thats about it really. any ideas whats going on?

is that last line a joke?
hmm i suppose the 'bubble' type things could be dirt on my eyes as if i look directly ahead they move downwards.
the vertical lines arent very bad but i just thought id mention it, the thing is that my TV has lines like that on it so im wondering if its from watching that (i only really watch it for a couple hours at night) or maybe i just think i see them because i was just looking at the TV ( a placebo type thing).
im making a doctors apointment for next week anyway.

you need to see a reputable opthamologist immediately. there are many kinds of eye disorders and many treatments available. don't wait until it's too late. find out what it is and what you can do about it. take it easy right now. don't bend or do any heavy lifting and don't force if you're constipated.

Opticians are fine men and women whose primary purpose is to fit you with glasses or contacts, not diagnose eye disorders. While they have some training in this field, it is not extensive.

See a good ophthalmologist, an MD with specialty eye training.

You have floaters. Everybody does. Some people have floaters that are more pronounced and it bothers their vision. You can either have the fluid drained from your eyes, or you can have a laser zap the floaters. But if it doesn't bother you that much, just let it be.

i see those white thing floating down too, but i think they're just stuff that's on your eyes and your eyes are moving them down to get them out, but the vertical lines sounds scary. you should get advice from your doctor.

i would say go back to the optical and explain to them what you see. otherwise wear sunglasses in the sun and dont stay out in the sun too long.
