I disagree. An argument is a propaganda engine used to dehumanize the other party and elevate your own position.

A debate is a discussion to pursue the truth.

A word means whatever the speaker meant by it, if the meaning is obvious. So, yes, this is ONE possible meaning, but certainly not the only one.

100% The truth is out there. People should stop being lazy and having all the false info fed to them, and actually go out into the field and research it themselves.

It's a debate for that reason, or to convince others of what you believe is the truth... or prove that they are wrong.

Quite often, how it is and how it should be are two different things. That being said, your definition is accurate in legal terminology.
