What do you suggest?

I'm getting a 55 or 75 gallon tank and thinking of getting an albino tiger oscer or getting a 30gal. and having a reef tank.

Well a 75 gallon tank with an oscar would be much easier to maintain and much less expensive to set up, and I think you would probably get much more enjoyment out your oscar than you would out of a group of SW fish. And as I say, it would cost maybe 200$ to set up, as opposed to 1000$ for the SW tank.

If you DO go with SW, you'll definitely have a more impressive tank (but not more impressive fish, after all, a 10" oscar is pretty impressive!), but it'll be more of a challenge. However, if you do SW, go with 55 gallons at least and not 30 gallons. It'll be easier for you to maintain in the long run.

Personally, I would go with the 75 with whatever you like in it and here's why. You seem to have a choice between spending money on tank size by getting a 75, or going for a smaller tank with expensize filtration and fish (saltwater). Go for the larger tank and you can over time add to it and if later you still want a salt tank you will have a nce big 75 to work with. If you go for the 30 salt now and you don't like it or every dies from a disease or something, all you have left is a 30 gallon tank to work with and getting a larger tank would cost even more. getting the 75 now opens up far more possibilities in the long run.

If you can afford the 75 go for it. 55 works best for most anything though. just remember the bigger the tank the bigger the fish and the bigger the filter needed to pick up all the crap. A 55 gallon reef tank would look nice.

An oscar and a 55gal wouldnt be good as you would need a bigger tank as it grew. An oscar and 75 is much better. Make sure you get a really good external filter as Oscars produce a lot of waste.

75 & an oscar is a great combo. 55 has 12-13 inches front to back & oscars get 12-15 inches long... so 55 is too small for him to be comfy as an adult.
