My college sweetheart and I dated off and on for about 5 years. We finally seperated for good when I was 23 and he was 28. He immediately married someone else and was divorced 3 years later. I married when I was 25 and divorced 4 years ago. He remarried the 2nd time about 11 years ago. After all these years, we keep intouch by e-mail and he will occasionally call me.
He is in the Military and has been stationed in Iraq for the past year.
He is on his way back home. Called me yesterday and told me that when he returns his next assignment will be a base about 1 hour from me and btw.. "My wife is not coming with me. She will be staying in North Carolina".
The problem is... I know he still loves me and I him. Before he left for Iraq he wrote me a letter. He said that it has made him think about his life and what is important.
My brother seems to think he purposely requested a station near me. Could this be true? What are his intentions?

He is a gentleman. I think the reason that he has stayed with her is because she had two children when they married, none together. And in that time, I think he wanted to get them through college first.

It sounds like he's interested in picking up where he left off.

Well whether his intentions are good or bad the fact that you both married, knowing that you had feelings for this other person, wasn't fair to the people whose feelings got involved. You're both jerks and you deserve each other. It's not going to work out, you can try it. But it won't work. Even if you two were to get married, it's been all these years you need to let him go. Whether you think you "love" him or not, he's a married man the fact that you're considering this shows what kind of person you are. So go with it, do what you will. You'll have to learn the hard way.

sounds to me like he is interested in being with you. By leaving his wife behind he is telling you he wants to be with you without saying it. The only thing I can suggest is that if you are interested in being with him as well, tell him up front that you do not want to be the other woman, if he is serious then he will divorce his current wife to be with you. Until he does remain friends with him. If things are still unclear then maybe write him a letter asking him what his intentions are.

He is married, get over him, find someone new, why would you want to break up his family, hurt his wife and children, stop being so selfish, lots of other man out there.

Well if he is still in love with you then he might have suggested it. Make sure your visit with him doesn't get out of hand because he is married. Let him know that u still love him but make sure that he isn't just playing you to get something back.
