Politicians became to afraid to ask for sacrifice. We are at war with a national deficit and the republicans want to cut taxes for the rich. Who is going to pay for their 360 billion dollar expedition that could have put 6 million more teachers in our schools?

It is simply a case of the American people lacking personal responsibility. Furthermore, our government does not encourage individuals to stop asking for more handouts. What this nation needs is the opportunity to discover its own strength and that these handouts by governmental agencies are crutches which hold us back.

It all started with Johnson being the good southern democrat decided to drag the slaves back into chains. Funny this, cause many whites also decided the new style of chains wasn't that bad either and let themselves be chained.

Yeah, it was pretty easy for JFK to say that, wasn't it? He needed nothing! I pay my taxes and have to support both my family and the thousands of others who don't think it is their responsibility to work to support theirs. I say "Ask not what I can do for my country, but what can my country do for me."

so if I vote in favor of legislation to help poor people live a better life, and, because of this, pay more in my own taxes, am I not asking what I can do for my country?
meanwhile if you say please government give me police and tax cuts and let the poor people starve, you are asking what your country can do for you.
